Mr Auyeung gave a talk on common hand conditions at a Primary Care Symposium sponsored by the Spire Hospital at County Durham Cricket Ground on Saturday 8 Nov.
He discussed diagnosis and management of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Trigger digits and Dupuytren’s contracture. In particular, he raised the need for Prior Approval Tickets when referred to the NHS as there are Value Based Commissioning Guidelines stipulating if the conditions are being treated on the NHS and if so at what stage referral/treatment is commissioned. He reinforced that the guidelines are basically good clinical practice so only appropriate cases will get treated.
He had a good reception from the attendees who enjoyed the talk.
