Mr. Auyeung has attended a workshop at the headquarters of Kerri Medical Ltd to learn about trapeziometacarpal joint (thumb base joint) replacement. The workshop was led by various European experts in this procedure with over 15 years’ experience. Mr. Auyeung performed the procedure in the cadaver lab under the supervision of the local experts. He was awarded a certificate following this training.
Mr. Auyeung aims to find suitable patients for this procedure which he feels will be indicated in younger patient with a high demand on their hand/thumb. This will provide a mobile pain-free thumb rather than pain-free stiff thumb following a thumb base fusion which has hitherto been the standard procedure.
